India 2010
This summer I will be traveling to India with Rescuing Lives to work at schools located in the slums of Jaipur and Faridabad. Having been there last summer, I was able to see the amazing work that these schools are doing. Education in India is not free, costing thousands of US dollars each year for “public schools.” Those who live in the slums collect garbage for pennies a day, with children often working right beside the parents. It is impossible for these people to afford the education that would allow them to escape this life of poverty. The schools that I will be working with are located right in the slums where the children live, and provide a free education to any child whose parents are willing to let them come. Only one in ten thousand children who are born in the slums are able to escape throughout their lifetime. The children attending these schools realize the great value of the education they are receiving and pour their hearts and souls into learning everything the teachers have to offer. Many of the children that were graduating last year were striving toward lofty goals of becoming doctors, artists, and missionaries, among other things.
The entire cost of my trip is just over $4000, to pay for airfare, food, lodging, transportation within India, and a visa for entrance into the country. Helping people in India has been a passion of mine for many years. During my trip last year, I was blessed to be a part of what God is doing in that country. Several times, the team was meeting in prayer for a specific request, only to find out later that at the moment we were praying, God was answering the prayer. We were able to pray with and for the children and saw God touch their hearts.
Please keep me and the team in your prayers and consider supporting me financially. Checks can be made out to Geneva Assembly of God and mailed to 195 Sheridan Park Geneva, NY 14456.
